The HS6504 uses the INA231 IIC interface Bi-directional current/power monitoring sensor.
The INA231 is a high-side or low-side, bidirectional current shunt and power monitor with a 1.8V I2C interface, with 16 programmable addresses. The INA231 monitors shunt voltage drop and bus power supply voltage, providing enhanced protection by setting the ALERT pin to active when the corresponding value exceeds the programmed range.
Programmable calibration values, conversion times, and averaging can be used in conjunction with an internal multiplier to achieve direct reading of current values (in amperes) and power values (in watts), thereby reducing host processing load.
The INA231 detects the current on the bus voltage (between 0V and 28V). The device is powered by a single power supply of 2.7V to 5.5V, and consumes a power supply current of 330 μ A (typical value) and has a rated operating temperature range of - 40 ° C to+125 ° C.
The INA231 is available in two versions. The INA231A performs continuous switching of shunt and bus voltage during startup, while the INA231B starts in a low current shutdown mode. This module uses the INA231A version.
